지하에 있는 수 피트니스 앤 스파.

수 피트니스 앤 스파에는

피트니스 센터(사우나 포함), 스파, 한식 라운지 등이 있는데,

나는 사우나만 이용했다.

운동은 나랑 맞지 않음.

회원이 아닌 입장객은

대인 43,000원의 금액을 부담해야하지만,

나는 투숙객이라서 무료로 이용하였다.

이 아파트먼트 건물이

완전 상가도 아닌 것이

그렇다고 호텔도 아닌

애매한 포지션이라서

입장하기 전에는 시설이 좋을 거라는 기대는 안 했다.

탈의실이나 사우나/탕 분위기는

특별난 건 없었지만,

좋은 대중탕보다 좀 더 좋은 수준이었다.

시설이나 기능 면에서는

롯데호텔 서울이나 신라호텔 못지 않았다고

생각한다.

하지만 

인테리어 마감재, 조명, 고객 서비스 측면에서

꿀리는 것 맞다.

생각보다

탕과 사우나 모두 넓고 쾌적한 편.

탕에는 편백나무처럼 보이는

의자가 있어서 누워서 멍 때리면

잠시 세상 걱정이 사라진다.

사우나도

넑찍한 편이었던 것으로 기억한다.

습식과 건식 둘 다 운영.

지금 기억으로는

여러 방식으로 물이 분사되는

(포시즌스에서 익스피리언스 샤워라고 했던)

샤워실도 하나 갖추고 있었던 것 같고,

그래서 의외로 갖출 건 다 갖췄다고 생각했던

기억이 있다.

<총평>

사우나/온천을 좋아하는 투숙객이라면

한 번쯤 이용을 권하고 싶다.

이번 호캉스가

생각보다 선방했다고 드는 부분은

호텔보다 저렴한 객실료에

좋은 시설의 사우나를 무료를 즐겼기 때문이 컸다.

<저녁 dinner>

푹 쉬러 온 것은 맞는데,

거실 쇼파에서 TV보다 잠들 생각은 없었다.

I came here to relax,

but I did not intended to fall asleep while watching TV.

잠이 깨어보니

6시 30분쯤 되었는데,

과일을 한참 먹다가 잠들었던 터라

배가 딱히 고프지는 않은데

안 먹기는 뭔가 아쉬웠다.

It was around 6:30

when I woke up.

I was not that hungry

because I ate some fruits before sleeping.

But I did not want to skip dinner somehow.

그래서

한식당이 있다길래 내려갔는데

엉뚱하게 2층에 내려왔다.

So I was thinking of Korean restaurant operated by the Apartments,

but I went down to the 2nd floor without any idea

2층은 Park Cafe.

Park Cafe was on the 2nd floor.

(Korean Restaurant was on the lower lobby)

한식도 엄청 땡기는 것 아니었던 지라

그냥 자리 안내 받고 식사하기로 했다.

I was not dying for Korean food,

so I let myself guided by the server.

식당은 꽤나 넓었는데

식사하는 사람이 거의 없었다.

The restaurant was huge, but empty almost.

이래서 장사 되겠나? 걱정...

Are they making money here? worried

맛이 없나? 걱정...

Are they cooking bad? worried.

식사용 빵이 나왔다.

Bread.

빵은 기대 안 했는데

생각보다 촉촉하고 맛있었다.

Unexpectedly, 

it was more moist and delicious than I thought.

우선 코스는 2인 이상 주문이 필요했던

기억이 있다.

To my memory, set menu required minimum 2 persons.

그래서 알라카르트(a la carte) 주문을 했다.

That is why I ordered a la carte menu.

애피타이저로 코코넛 슈림프.

fried coconut shrimp.

새우가 아주 그냥 탱탱하니

맛있었다.

다만 저 소스는 시판용인지

냉장고에서 한참을 두었다가 나온 것처럼 차디찼다.

Its texture was quite resilient,

which I really like it.

However, the sauce was so cold

like it was preserved in the fridge for hours

기껏 따뜻한 튀김 서빙하시면서

이렇게 차디찬 소스를 주시면

조금 당황...

It was a bit confusing 

to serve hot fries with super cold sauce.

농어 스테이크.

Sea bass steak

비주얼은 약간 많이 부족하다.

처음 딱 봤을 때는

"그냥 생선구이네..."

Its visual was not impressive.

"just a fish steak, no more than that"

그치만 먹다보면 맛있다.

However, it was better than it looked.

처음에는

바삭하다못해 딱딱한 구이의 식감이

약간 거슬린다고 생각했는데,

그렇게 딱딱하게 구워냈어도

속살은 촉촉하게 살아있었다.

그것이 바로 이 스테이크의 반전 매력.

At first,

I though too much crispiness is unpleasant.

But inside was still moist and softened.

That was the twist I found in this dish.

식감의 대조가

단조로울 수 있는 농어구이의 먹는 재미를 높였다.

This contrast doubled the joy of this sea bass streak,

which might be too simple itself.

아스파라거스도 생각보다

신선하고

잘 구우셨다.

무슨 비법 기름이 있는 것 같지는 않은데

아스파라거스나 농어나

엄청 평범해보이는데

먹을수록 비주얼과는 달랐다.

Asparagus was fresh and well fried.

Although I could not sense any special techniques,

the taste was getting better.

2개 메뉴를 주문한 가격은

62,000원.

KRW 62,000

(around USD 55 inclusive of tax and service)

객실번호랑 서명 적고 나서

따로 확인은 안 했는데,

나중에 체크인할 때보니까

투숙객 할인이 10%들어가 있었다.

I left my room number and my signature.

At check-out, I found guest discount applied.

<조식 breakfast buffet>

애초에 객실을 Orbitz에서 예약할 때

조식은 포함이 아니었다.

When I book a room at Orbitz,

the deal did not include breakfast.

그치만 체크인 할 때

조식을 포함하겠냐고 물어주셨다.

체크인 시에 추가하면

할인된 가격에 먹을 수 있다고 설명해주셨다.

However, 

the reception asked me 

if I wanted to have a breakfast here.

They told me

that I could get a discount 

if I let them include breakfast and charge at this moment.

신라는 해줄 수 있을 것 같았는데

신라호텔 직접 예약 고객만 된다고 거절했었지만,

롯데 서울 메인타워와 여기 메리어트 아파트먼트는

직접예약하지 않았어도 체크인할 때

할인가격을 제시해주셔서 감사했다.

At the Shilla Seoul,

they refused to offer a discounted breakfast

because I did not book directly with them.

On the contrary,

Lotte Hotel Seoul Main Tower and Marriott Apartment here

first offered me to add a breakfast at a discounted rate.

I am always thankful for their care.

별거 아닐 수 있지만

이걸로 나는 항상 신라를 까고 있다.

ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

It may be nothing to others, not me.

I always compare the Shilla with other hotels

regarding the discounted breakfast offer.

유제품 및 과일.

차, 빵, 더운 물 등.

식사용 빵류.

프렌치 토스트와 와플 등

벵레오젱? 등 대니쉬 스타일 패스트리.

씨리얼, 올리브, 견과 등

햄과 치즈.

이 가격에 기대 안 했는데

코파햄이 있었다.

아무도 안 건드린 것 같길래

내가 거의 다 가져왔다.

ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

There was coppa ham,

which I did not expected here at this price.

I took most of them

because nobody seems to see that there.

샐러드, 묵, 쿠키 등

훈제연어.

핫푸드 스테이션.

종류가 별로 없는 것 같았지만

이것저것 차린 것이 많아서

생각보다 촬영할 게 많아

당황스러웠다.

At first sight,

I thought the buffet had a small variety.

But it has a great variety of food for the price.

한식 반찬도 13종.

어린이용 시리얼과 쟁반.

튀김류.

구운 감자, 맛탕, 구운 브로콜리, 구운 버섯 등

원래 Orbitz에 나온 조식가격은

32,670원.

The orginal price listed on Orbitz was

KRW 32,670.

그렇지만 체크인 데스크의 배려로

26,620원에 조식을 해결할 수 있었다.

Thanks to the receptionist,

I could have this wonderful meal at KRW 26,620

(around USD23, inclusive of tax and service)

<총평>

호텔 입장에서 안 남을 것 같은 장사.

it may not be profitable.

가짓수가 상당히 많고

음식도 엄청 잘하시는 것 같다.

A great variety of food.

Great cooking techques

저녁 농어구이 때

다소 투박한 비주얼에서

빛을 바라던 조리솜씨가

조식에서도 다시 한번 빛을 내시는 것 같았다.

The cook showed his/her ability

though the plating was not perfect.

Park Cafe는

엄청 뷰가 좋지는 않지만

꼭 조용한 곳에서 식사하고 싶다면

추천하겠다.

음식은 값어치를 했다고 생각한다.

I would recommend Park Cafe

if you are looking for a quiet place,

because I think it was worth the price.

조식은

강력추천.

32000원대라고 해도

상당히 훌륭한 구성과 맛이었다.

I strongly recommend the breakfast buffet.

Combination of menus and taste was wonderful 

for the price.

이사하고 나서는

호캉스는 안해도 되겠다고

호언장담하자마자

몇번 멘탈이 탈탈 털리면서

호텔 검색을 미친듯이 하기 시작했다.

After I moved in my current apartment,

I announced that I will not go to hotel for stay-cation.

However, as soon as my mental breakdown began

I also began to search hotels like a fanatic

그렇게 몇번을 예약 취소를 반복하다가

결국 일요일 콘래드 스위트 체크인을 확정.

콘래드 결정된 김에

토요일 체크인이 비싸도

짐 옮기기 귀찮아서 결제하려고 했더니

sold out이 떴다...

After repeating bookings and cancellations,

I finally fixed my Conrad Seoul stay checking in on Sunday.

So I tried to book one more night checking in on Saturday

even though it is usually more expensive.

But I failed to book it

because it was already sold out.

어쩔 수 없이 콘래드랑

가장 가까우면서

가장 괜찮은 호텔 대신

서비스드 아파트먼트인

메리어트 이그제큐티브 아파트먼트를 예약하게 되었다.

I had few options.

I searched and found Marriott Executive Apartments

which is located in walk-able distance from Conrad Seoul.

I usually prefer hotels to serviced apartments,

but I had to choose serviced apartment this time.

토요일 체크인이고

급박하게 예약한 것 치고는

가격이 나쁘지 않았다.

To me,

the price was not that bad for check-in Saturday.

어쩌면 

여의도에 메리어트 아파트가 있는 지

모르는 분도 많았을 것 같다.

나도 호텔 사이트에서 검색하다가 알았지

진짜 어디에 붙어있는 감이 잘 안왔다.

Some may have not known that

there was a Marriott Apartment in Yeouido.

I discovered it while going through hotels with combs,

though I did not know exactly where it is.

전경련 회관 근처에

영등포와 여의도를 잇는 다리(이름 몰라요!)

바로 앞 건물이

메리어트 이그제큐티브 아파트먼츠.

The Apartments is located,

in front of the bridge between Yeongdungpo and Yeouido,

and next to the Federation of Korean Industries building.

건물 입구는 2개다.

호텔처럼 운영되는 서비스드 아파트먼트 출입구가 있는 입구(우측)

아파트 실거주민이 이용하는 출입구(좌측인듯)

The Apartments has two entrances.

Right door is for the serviced apartment operating like a hotel,

and left one is for the residents at these apartments

로비는 깔끔하고 아담하게 잘 꾸며놓긴 했는데

어떻게 찍던 사람 얼굴이 잔뜩 나오게 생겨서

찍을 수가 없었다.

The lobby was small but well-staged.

But no matter how hard I tried,

there was no option for me to take a picture of the lobby

without guests and staff.

보통 5성급 호텔의 

이그제큐티브 라운지 체크인 데스크

정도 생각하시면 될 것 같다.

You can imagine a check-in desk

at the executive lounge in a 5-star hotel

체크인 하는데

갑자기 레트로 게임기를 주시면서

수령 사인을 부탁하셨다.

While checking in,

I received a set of retro game machine, and

was asked to leave a signature for the receipt.

뭐..뭐죠?

w..what it this?

내가 이 패키지로 예약을 신청했다고

설명해주셨는데,

나는 그냥 Orbitz에서

패키지 설명 못 보고 예약해서

어리둥절.

The staff told me 

that my reservation was the above Play Retro Package.

But I did know that.

I just clicked the booking button without knowing if it is was a package.

직원분께서는

"손님이 잊고 계셔도

저희는 다 챙겨드린답니다^^"라며

정말 다 챙겨주셨다.

"Though our guests do not remember,

we offer everything that you deserve" said the staff.

조식 불포함 예약이었는데

지금이라도 추가하면

가격이 조금은 저렴하다고 하여

어영부영 조식 추가.

ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

My deal was not inclusive of breakfast.

But as recommended from the reception,

I added a breakfast buffet to pay a little less for the meal.

보자마자

나혼자산다의 이시언이 좋아할 것 같다는

생각이 들었다.

This game set reminded me of Si-eon Lee starring I Live Alone

and that he would love it very much.

아파트 이름 앞에 이그제큐티브가 붙어서 그런 것인지

이그제큐티브/클럽 객실 입장할 때처럼

이용가능한 시설 안내문을 주셨다.

I received also an advice note regarding the facilities.

It was like when I check in for executive room.

Is it because this apartment is 'Executive'?

사실

체크인할 때

처음 온 호텔인 경우에

직원분이

조식은 몇시부터

무슨 식당에서 시작하고요~

하면서 다다다다 쏟아내시면

한귀로 다 빠져나가는데

이런 종이주는 거 좋다.

Actually, while I check in,

staff recite like a rapping robot

"Breakfast begins~, you can find the restaurant where~"

In the end, nothing left in my memory.

so, it is convenient for me to have this advice note.

너무 과하다고 느낄 정도로

여자 직원분께서

내 캐리어를 대신 끌고

엘베를 같이 타고

객실의 시설을 하나하나 다 안내해주셨다.

the staff also accompany and guided me to the room

carrying my luggage by herself,

and informed me of how the facilities works

나 그다지 비싼 객실 예약한 것도 아니고

메리어트 사이트에서 직접 예약한 것도 아니었다.

I did not book an expensive room,

and I did not directly book at Marriott.com.

그런데도

원래 체크인 서비스가 이런건지?

Then, check-in service here is always like this?

아님 내가 코트야드에서

장문의 컴플레인 쓴게 DB에 남아있어서

그걸 본것인지...

Or...

did they read the long long complaint letter

that I left for the Courtyard by Marriott Time Square?

나 블랙리스트에 오른 것일까?ㅋㅋㅋ

객실은 3층부터.

Guest rooms from 3rd floor to 14th floor

엘베 타는 공간

객실로 가는 통로 입구.

객실 복도.

나름 고층의 1103호를 배정받았다.

I was assigned 1103, 

higher than I expected.

1104호가 넓어서 탐은 났지만

얼마를 더 내라고 할지 모르고

2베드룸이면... 의미가 없다...

From the plan,

I wanted the 1004, which was larger.

But I did not know how much more I had to pay

and whether it is 2-bedroom suite, which is useless to me.

혼자 호캉스 다닐 때

서비스드 아파트의 단점이 바로 이점.

객실 등급이 침실 갯수에 비례하기 때문에

뷰 좋고 넓은 객실을 예약하고 싶어도

마음대로 안된다.

One of the reasons I do not end up choosing service apartment is

that the size of room is proportional to the number of bedroom.

the bigger, the better view, the higher number of rooms.

That is not what I want.

넓어지면 뭐하나, 침실이 2개라서

하나는 쓰지도 못하고 공간만 차지하는데...

the bigger is good,

but two bed rooms are useless.

호주 멜버른 숙소 예약하는데

호주는 서비스드 아파트먼트가 너무 많고

상대적으로 호텔이 적어서

이런 점 때문에 고생을 많이 했다. ㅠ

When I was searching hotels in Melbourne, Austrailia,

it was not easy for me to find a good hotel

because there were lots of service apartment, 

and less hotels compared to the number of serviced apartments.

문을 열고 들어서면

작은 복도가 있다.

바로 오픈 키친과 거실이 나온다.

주방.

open kitchen.

있을 건 다있는데

아기 이유식 해먹일 부모아니고서야

특별히 필요가 없었다.

It seemed to have everything for a family.

But I am not a father who has a baby to feed a warm baby food.

과일 깍아 먹는 정도로 밖에는

사용을 할 수가 없었다.

I just need a knife and plate for fruits.

객실 시설만큼이나 중요한 것이 뷰.

코너 룸이라 뷰가 2면이었다.

The view is as important as the interior.

My room was corner one, so I had two views.

거실쪽에서는 아파트뷰.

Apartments view from the family room.

바로 옆에 건물이 있어서

커튼을 안치면

서로 눈 마주칠 수 있겠더라.

Plus, this Marriott apartment is right next to other office building,

close enough to make an eye contact

객실과 욕실에서는 영등포 뷰.

Yeongdungpo view from the bed room and bathroom.

이쪽이 좀 뷰가 괜찮다.

I liked this view.

가장 눈에 먼저 들어오는 건

작은 아일랜드

Small island in the kitchen

뭘 먹을 수는 없고

조리대 정도로만 쓸 수 있을 것 같다.

Just a small prep space, nothing else.

밥솥.

rice cooker.

인덕션.

Induction.

오피스텔에 살던

그 속터지던 인덕션이 생각나서

짜증이 확 올라올뻔.

ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

The induction reminded me 

of living in an studio apartment(officetel in Konglish).

At those times,

the weak firepower and automatic temperature controller

slowed down my cooking, which made me insane...

커피 포트, 티백, 생수 등

pot for coffee, tea bags, mineral water, and others.

전자렌지.

microwave.

장도 손가락 까닥하면

다 볼 수 있었다.

You can finish your grocery shopping 

by just checking boxes.

작은 싱크.

편하지는 않았다.

Not that functional.

포함되어 있지 않다.

The apartment did not provide for free.

글라스도 종류별로 쫙 세팅되어있어서

집에서 챙겨온 화이트 와인을 홀짝 거리는데

기분이 좀 더 업되는 느낌?ㅋㅋ

아무리 보스라도 이런 거는

The room in this photo looks more spacious.

But it was not.

깊어서 반신욕하기에는 좋았다.

It was one of the most impressive.

I want to have one.

이게 별거 아닌 것 같아도

반신욕의 등 기대는 느낌 차이가 컸다.

It looked very trivial,

but having a cushion against your back was quite a difference.

<총평>

기본적으로

일반 호텔 객실보다 넓은 면적이지만

좁다는 느낌을 떨쳐낼 수가 없다.

워낙 이것저것 많이 집어넣었기 때문.

Although the square meters are larger than hotel rooms,

it felt really cramped.

They put everything in a limited space.

외국인 손님이 장기 투숙을 해야한다면

호텔 대신에 여기를 숙소로 잡아주면 좋겠다는

생각이 들었다.

I think I can book this suite 

for international business travelers

instead of a hotel room if they will stay longer.

아니면 자녀가 있는 가족이

장기 투숙하기에는 좋을 것 같았다.

Or I think I can see a family with kids here.

혼자 호캉스로는

약간 애매하다.

It is not suitable for single 

who wants to do stay-cation.

'아파트먼트'이기 때문에

호텔처럼 화려한 느낌이 덜하다.

조명도 대놓고 형광등인듯.

Since it is an apartment,

it does not look very luxurious, 

especially the lights.

그럼에도 불구하고

여러가지 장점이 있다.

But I can see some strong points.

우선 다음 포스팅 주제인

사우나.

웬만한 5성급 호텔 사우나보다 좋다.

First strong point is the sauna

which I will post soon.

호텔에서 직접 운영하는 식당은

1개 뿐이지만

이 건물에 입점한 식당의 개수가 여러개 있고

지하에는 편의점 및 각종 상점들이 있다.

여의도 IFC몰과는 도보로 약 10-15분은 걸리지만

식사나 필요한 물품을 구입하는 데에는

전혀 불편함이 없다.

There is only one restaurant run by the Marriott.

But there are several dining options within this building,

including convenience store.

It is 10-15 minute walk from IFC Mall.

But I think you can dine and buy daily grocery here.

직원분들도 엄청 친절하시고

다음 다른 포스팅에서도 언급하겠지만

음식 솜씨도 좋은 편이다.

Service was very good,

and the cooking skill was good as well.

그래서

혼자 호캉스보다는

가족 단위 호캉스로 추천한다.

혼자 호캉스로 온다면

스튜디오 구조(흔히 한국식 표현으로 원룸)의

개방형 구조가 좋겠다.

그렇지만 서비스드 아파트먼트에서

스튜디오 구조가 가장 낮은 등급이라

객실이 좁을 가능성이 높은 것이 함정.

Considering all these that I mentioned,

I this this place is better for family stay-cation.

If you need to be here alone,

I would like to recommend a studio layout.

But the problem is...

Usually, studio layout is the lowest class, 

which means smaller square meters.

그렇지만

주말도 그렇지만

평일 가격은 호텔보다 더 저렴한 편이라서

나중에 다시 올 생각도 좀 있다.

However, I may come back here

because the room rate is relatively affordable compared to hotels,

especially weekdays.
