수도권에 살지 않기 때문에
멜버른 여행에서 말레이시아 항공 야간 비행으로 도착하면
바로 시외버스를 타고 집으로 올 수는 있지만
엄청 피곤하다.
Since I do not live in the metropolitan area of Seoul,
it is really draining
to get on an inter-city bus from the airport to my home
after 13-hour flight from Melbourne, Australia.
버스에서 눈을 붙이기는 하지만
푹 자는 것도 아니고
안 자는 것도 아니고.
Yes, I can sleep on the bus.
But I cannot sleep tight there.
그리고
멜버른 티켓을 예약하기는 했는데
멜버른이 얼마나 재미있을지,
호주의 인종차별이 심하다는 얘기도 많던데
얼마나 유쾌한 기억으로 돌아올지
자신이 별로 없었다.
In addition,
I was not sure
how good my trip to Melbourne would be.
I heard a lot about racial discrimination in Australia
,which I experienced in person.
So I was afraid of a sad ending
after spending a lot of money there.
그래서
장거리 여행으로 고생한 나를 위한
작은 보험을 하나 들었다.
For these reasons,
I bought an insurance called Four Seasons Hotel
그 보험상품은 바로
포시즌스 호텔 서울에서
이그제큐티브 스위트 1박!
포시즌스 호텔 공식홈페이지에서
직접 예약했다.
포시즌스는 로열티 프로그램이 없다.
I booked the executive suite directly at Four Seasons website
그래서 티어가 있다고
무조건 업그레이드 받거나
라운지 무료 이용가능하거나 하는 등의
서비스 차별이 없다.
Four Seasons does not have loyalty program.
타 호텔 브랜드의 로열티 프로그램의
높은 티어가 없는 내게 있어서
로열티 프로그램이 없는게
더 매력적으로 다가왔다.
Since I do not have any high level tier in any global hotel franchises,
No loyalty program sounds more fair to me.
조기 예약 할인을 받은
가격이 663,850원.
My final room rate after tax and early bird discount is
KRW 663,850.
단위 면적당 객실 가격과
저녁과 아침 식비가 포함된 걸 고려했을때
디럭스나 프리미어를 예약한 것보다
가성비가 더 높은 결정이었다고 합리화.
Taking into account the room rate per sqm
2 meals in the executive lounge,
it was easy for me to rationalize
that it was a greater value than a deluxe or premier room.
첫번째 포시즌스 호텔 서울 투숙이 아니기 때문에
지난 번 디럭스 룸과 다른 포인트들 위주로
사진을 찍어봤다.
Since it is not my first stay at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul,
I took pictures
focusing on differences from my previous stay.

내가 배정받은 객실은
1509호.
My room number was 1509.
높은 층은 아니었지만
내가 오전 10시 30분에 체크인을 하게 도와주셨고,
스위트 객실의 특전인 사우나 무료 이용을
체크인 하기 전에 누릴 수 있도록 도와주셨기 때문에
전혀 불만없었다.
It is not a high level, but I had no complaint about it
because the hotel help me check in at 10:30,
and allowed me use the Korean Sauna before checking in.
2번째 투숙이라서
층수에 대한 미련을
더 쉽게 버릴 수 있었던 것 같기도 하다.
환영과일.
Welcome fruit.
객실에 도착했을 때
이미 환영과일이 준비되어 있었다.
When I entered the room,
I could see the welcome fruit.
내 눈앞에 있는 한라봉에 한 번 놀랐다.
I was surprised at Hallabong,
which is expensive comparatively.
역시 환영과일부터 클라스가
dollar, dollar~!
It was a different class.
환영 초코타르트.
Welcome food.
정확히 초코 타르트인지는 모르겠다.
초코 봉봉 같은데
타르트같기도 해서
명칭은 잘 모르겠다.
짐을 막 풀고 있는 중에
누군가 벨을 누르셔서 뭐지? 했는데
환영 다과를 주시러 방문하셨다.
The hotel provided extra welcome food
when I was unpacking.
과일 상태가 타르트 맛이나
나무랄 것 없었다.
The fruit and tarts were exquisite.
멜버른 소피텔은
기억의 저편으로 사라지기 시작.
From this moment,
My good stay at Sofitel Melbourne was crowded out
to the corner of my memory.

City view near Gwanghwamun Plaza.
청계천 광장 및 감리교본부 뷰.
You can see the Cheonggyecheon Plaza and a Methodist building.

일출.
Sunrise.
뷰는 신경쓰지 않고 예약했는데,
스위트 객실이다보니
지난 번 투숙 때는 볼 수 없었던
코너뷰여서 더 마음에 들었다.
I did not care the view while booking.
But thanks to the location of suite room,
I could enjoy the corner view.
거실.
Living space.
스위트 객실이라서
엄청 넓을 줄 알았는데,
실제 수치상의 면적에 비해서
느껴지는 공간감은
디럭스 객실이나 스위트 객실이나
큰 차이가 없었다.
I thought it would feel very spacious
because it is a suite room.
However, the sense of spaciousness was not that different from
that of deluxe rooms.
디럭스 객실처럼
면적에 아주 이것저것 다 꽉꽉 채워서
여백의 미는 느낄 수 없었다.
It has in common that
the hotel was packed with detailed amenities.
데스크.
Desk/Table.
데스크가 중앙을 차지하면서
안정감있는 가구 배치가 이루어진 것 같다.
The desk makes the room look more stable.
대신 콘래드처럼 굴러다녀도 되겠다 싶은
공간 측면의 호사는 누리기 힘들다는 단점.
However, it is difficult to sense spaciousness
which makes you want to roll around.
외투 옷장.
Closet for outer wear.
그냥 벽인 줄 알았는데
알고보니 외투를 보관할 수 있는 옷장이었다.
I thought it was a wall,
which was wrong.
아닛, 이건 너무 편하잖아!
It was very convenient.
미니바 위의 수납공간.
Storage over Minibar.
장기 투숙하는 사람이라면
유용하게 썼을 것 같다.
It would had been very helpful
if I had stayed longer.
식기류와 커피, 차 등.
미니스낵바.
냉장고 미니바.
냉장고를 꽉꽉 채워주셔서
내 물건을 보관할 수 없다는 것이
단점.
미니바 가격표.
옷장(walk-in closet)
옷장이 넓기도 넓지만
옷장에도 창문이 있어서
시티뷰를 감상할 있다는 것이
의외였다.
It was unexpected
that a closet has a window.
나중에 옷 갈아입을 때는
커튼 내리고 해야되서
약간 귀찮기도.
It was a bit bothersome
to curtain down when changing clothes.
침실.
Bed room.
침실 공간이 엄청 넓지는 않다.
It is not super spacious.
하지만
갑갑한 느낌이 없으면서
성인이 돌아다니기에 딱 적당한 공간은
확보.
However,
I did not feel cramped at all.
There was a proper amount of space
for adults to walk around.
욕실.
Bathroom
욕실이 실제 넓기도 하지만
거울 때문에 훨씬 더 넓게 느껴진다.
Bathroom was large,
but it felt larger thanks to the mirror wall.
뜨거운 물을 받고 입욕제를 넣은 욕조.
Bathtub filled with bath-powdered water.
욕조용 쿠션.
Bath cushion.
메리어트 이그제큐티브 아파트먼트 여의도에서
등받이 쿠션이 있어서
완전 갖고 싶었는데,
스위트 객실에는 베개/쿠션이 있다.
I really wanted to have this kind of cushion/pillow
for my bathtub at home.
등이나 목에 받침대 역할을 해주니까
너무나 편안한 것!!
It was so comfortable during bath.
세면대.
Double vanity.
샤워실.
Shower booth.
항상 샤워실에
의자를 놓고 싶다고 생각했었는데
여기에 대리석 의자를 놓아주셨다.
I always wanted to have a chair in my shower area.
Here is a marble bench.
샤워하다가 앉아서 쉬고 있으면
완전 호사...
It felt so luxurious to sit on a marble bench during shower.
화장실.
Toilet.
턴다운 쿠키.
Cookies provided during turndown.
나는 항상 욕조에서 쉬고 있으면
턴다운 방문을 하는 징크스가 있다.
허허허...
I have a jinx:
I always have a turn-down visit
when I take a bath.
급히 가운 입고 나가서
받은 취침 전 쿠키.
그리고 물도 주셨다.
I quickly put the gown on
and got the cookies and bottles of waters.
하우스키버분께서
쉬고 있는데 찾아와서 죄송하다고 하시는데,
그러실 필요는 전혀 없다고 말씀드렸다.
그냥 제가 타이밍을 잘 못 맞추더라고요.
The housekeeper said
that she was sorry to visit when I was resting.
But please do not mention it.
I am the bad timer.
데코용 오브제.
Objet for decoration.
디럭스 룸에 있는 오브제랑
다른 종류였다.
그래서 촬영.
These were different from the ones in the deluxe room.
포시즌스 서울 향초.
Perfumed candle by Four Seasons Seoul.
포시즌스 호텔에서 나는 아로마를
향초로 판매하고 있다는 광고를 엘베에서 봤다.
그래서 하나 지름.
I saw the ad of the candle
which has the same aroma at the lobby floor.
근데 향이 호텔에서 나는 것 많큼
진하지 않다는...
55000원치고 향이 너무 약한 건지
아니면 내 코가 막힌건지...
However, it was not as appreciable as in the lobby floor.
It costs KRW 55,000.
I wonder if my nose was stuffy or the scent was not strong enough.

콘래드 서울처럼
그냥 디럭스 2개 합친 거면
호캉스 재미가 별로 없을 것 같아서
살~~짝 걱정했었다.
I worried if the suite was just a connection of two deluxe room
like in the Conrad Seoul.
That would be a deal breaker for me.
그러나
포시즌스 서울의 이그제큐티브 스위트는
디럭스 2개 면적 합친것 보다는 작지만
대신에 구조를 아예 다 뒤집어 엎고 다시 짰기 때문에
디럭스 2개 합친 것 같은 느낌은 전혀 없었다.
However,
I did not had to worry about it.
The layout was totally different from that of the deluxe room,
though it was smaller than two deluxe rooms combined.
직원분들의 서비스는
더이상 바랄게 없었다.
The guest service was impeccable.
얼리 체크인,
체크인 전 사우나 이용 등을 도와주신 것뿐만 아니라
체크아웃 이후에도 많은 도움을 받았다.
Staff here helped me in many ways.
총합 35kg의 캐리어가 2개 있어서
택시는 타고 서울역에 가야겠는데,
종로쪽 호텔에서
서울역 가자고 하면 택시기사가 화를 내다보니
선뜻 택시를 잡아달라고 말을 못하고 있었다.
Because I had a 35 kg luggage,
I needed to take a taxi to the Seoul Station,
which is not far from the hotel.
Taxi drivers waiting at the hotel entrance
usually go angry
if I say 'Seoul Station'.
So I was hesitating to ask to grab a taxi for me.
원래 이 호텔 출입구에서는
모범 택시만 잡아준다.
그런데
사정을 들으시더니
그럼 도로변에 택시 정류장에 있는 일반택시라도
잡아주시겠다고 하셨다.
바로 밖으로 나가시더니
서울역도 상관없는 택시기사님을
정문 쪽으로 불러다주셨다.
또 감동 ㅠㅠ
This hotel only grabs deluxe taxi for guests.
However, the hotel made an exception:
the staff went out and grabbed a taxi willing to drop me at Seoul Station.
It was so moving.
웨스틴 멜버른은
발끝도 못 쫓아올 것 같다.
The Westin Melbourne would never catch up with this hotel.
아님
포시즌스 호텔이 나의 기대치를
너무 높여놓은 것일지도.
Or
I was spoiled by Four Seasons
and got to have a very high standard.
